"She's a fantastic performer who knows how to throw an awesome party! The lighting effects were some of the best I've seen at a concert. Loved that she had 4 different special guests join her for different songs. She engages with the audience and keeps you connected throughout the entire concert. The only downer - almost 45 minutes of a very LONG intermission between the opening act and her appearance! Once she got going, it went by fast. She did not disappoint - she sang all the favorites. The Nutcracker, a George Balanchine show I saw on June 3rd, 2009 in Mansfield, MA, was the highlight of my concert-going life so far. I've only been to a few concerts in my life, with most of them taking place at sprawling amphitheaters where the band seems like a tiny spec in front of the light show but the sound is crystal clear.
Last night's show at Terminal 5 blew me away. Knowing it was their final NYC performance and having heard about their previous nights' performances, I had high hopes going in. As I walked into the venue, those hopes were shattered when I realized I was mere feet away from Trent Reznor, my idol, experiencing his music for the last time.
The energy at the venue was intense, though the heat was uncomfortable. Despite a few unruly attendees, the crowd was united in sweat and dance, creating an electric atmosphere.
The setlist was flawless, and the addition of Peter Murphy was a delightful surprise. Mew's live performance was exceptional, and I recommend exploring more of their music. This show marked a perfect conclusion to my summer and to NIN's era in NYC.
To Trent, I wish you success in all your future endeavors and thank you for creating a memory that I will cherish and share with others for a lifetime.
